About

Stefan Draughon (1940-2021) was an artist and writer who most recently published THE BLOCK (2019), a book of eleven short stories, each accompanied by a painting. Draughon received an MFA in Painting from the Parsons School of Design and graduate degrees in music and psychology.

Her paintings have been exhibited in solo shows in New York City and in group shows including at the Rhode Island School of Design, where she served on the faculty. Selected recent poetry and paintings, shown together at the Prince Street Gallery in Manhattan in 2016, were published as a book titled, POEMS: And particularly the human face.

Draughon’s writing includes a first English translation from the Hungarian of Magda Szabo’s novel THE DOOR (1994), which she also illustrated. Her book, A PASSION FOR WATERCOLOR (2000), explores her experiences as an artist, richly supported by images of her paintings and drawings.

Following a staged reading in 2016 in Manhattan, her play, IRREGULAR SHAPES, was published in 2018 as an eBook and print book. The audio version was published in 2019 with audible.com.
